Q: DO YOU HAVE FORMAL EDUCATION?
A: I have a Bachelors of Arts in Communication, with emphasis in graphic design/mass media and theater. (I know, right? Who gets a degree in theater?) One of my favorite classes was classic film photography, dark rooms are amazing! I started out shooting in film and there will always be a soft spot in my heart for the medium, and it is a big influence in my editing style. I’ve been documenting weddings with video, (capture and editing) and photography since high school (which is too long ago to mention), let’s just leave it at over two decades of wedding documentary bliss.
Q: WHAT KIND OF PHOTOGRAPHY DO YOU DO?
A: I specialize in natural light, on-site photography. That means I come to you (or you come to my favorite spots) and I depend on Mother Nature to provide the perfect light and conditions for your shoot. My motto for photography is "For the Sites of Your Life," which means I want to be there to tell your story during the important moments of your life, wherever that takes place. Weddings, engagements, anniversaries, families, high school seniors, birth days; any important moment you want to remember, I want to come document for you.
Q: HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO WE NEED TO CONTACT YOU?
A: The sooner the better. I usually book weddings 12-18 months before the wedding, portrait sessions at least 2 weeks in advance.
Q: HOW DO WE BOOK WITH YOU?
A: First, go to my Contact Page and click on the Book a Session button to select a time for our free 30 minute Consultation. For those with an upcoming wedding, this is where I hear your story and your wedding day plans, I go through the Collection options with you, and what you can expect from me. Your consultation ensures that we are the best fit for your wedding day, which is priority to me because connection is so important!
For Portrait Sessions, the process is much the same. I will go over what to expect for a portrait shoot. I will ask you questions to find out your vision for our photo shoot and talk you through the process from beginning to end, including finishing up by seeing your gorgeous portraits on your walls or in an album.
When we get to know one another, it creates photographs that are personal, genuine and unique to who you are. I am not interested in delivering a series of cookie cutter photos. My desire is to tell your story. Once we talk details and find that we are a match (yay!) I will customize an agreement for us to sign, you put down a 50% retainer to hold the date, and we're booked!
Q: WHEN IS THE BALANCE DUE?
A: For weddings the deposit is 50% at the time of signing, and the balance is due 30 days before the wedding day. A payment schedule can be created upon request.
Portrait sessions require the creative fee for al a carte sessions, due at the time of signing and you're all paid up until our in person gallery viewing, where you will make an order for all the fabulous pictures you want!
If you choose a Portrait Collection, you will pay a retainer to book your session and the balance will be due on the day of your session.
Q: DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT PLANS?
A: Absolutely! I know everyone doesn't have money just laying around for extra investments like professional photographs. This is why in our consultation we will talk about your budget, decide if a session or a Collection is best, and work out a payment structure that makes the most sense for you.
Q: WILL AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION BE INCLUDED WITH MY WEDDING COLLECTION?
A: YES! Every Wedding Day Collection includes an engagement session, with the exception of elopements. This is a vital time for us as we get to know one another better. I like to take my time with these sessions. I don’t even consider the session started until I see a genuine smile light up your eyes. Then we get down to the business of picture taking and light chasing.
Q: HOW MANY PICTURES WILL I GET?
A: My philosophy is quality over quantity. The art of documenting a moment includes knowing which images capture true spirit and emotion. I would rather deliver 10 images you want to hang on your wall and pass down to your children, than 100 images you leave on your computer hard drive.
For Weddings, the number of images varies for each wedding day collection depending on the length of coverage, but it averages around 100 per hour. I will talk over those details with you at our consultation once I know what sort of coverage you're looking for.
Your al a carte Portrait Session includes 10 digital images with your session. You will choose these at our proofing and ordering session after your images have been edited.
Portrait Collections include all of the mastered digital pictures. You can expect between 30 and 50 images from an average session.
Q: DO YOU OFFER ALBUMS AND PRINTS?
A: It is my goal to ensure that every client leaves their time with me with something to show for it. As part of all wedding and portrait collections, we schedule a viewing of your images and in person consultation for wall art and album design. Size and placement matters! Virtual meetings are also available for all consultations and ordering sessions.
Q: WHEN WILL I GET MY PICTURES?
A: Your wedding day gallery will be ready for your proofing & ordering session 4-6 weeks after your wedding day. Your Portrait proofing & ordering session will be scheduled 1-2 weeks after your photo shoot.
Q: DO YOU DO DESTINATION WEDDINGS?
A: ABSOLUTELY! My passport is always current and I LOVE to travel.
